Church Profile

History -
On April 12, 1903, a group of God loving people gathered in the schoolhouse at Mayhill, Territory of New Mexico. Bro. Milton Reece preached at 11 o'clock. At the close of the worship service, "dinner-on-the-grounds" was enjoyed by all. Again, at 3 o'clock, Bro. Reece brought a mighty gospel message. At the close of his sermon, Bro. Reece said, "those of you folks that hold Missionary Baptist letters and any of you that are interested in forming a Missionary Baptist Church, stay for a while and we will talk about it". This was just what a group of "believers" had been wanting to do for quite some time. A Motion was made that the church should be called Mayhill. Motion was made to adjourn until the second Sunday in May. Opportunity was given for membership and T.G. Patterson, upon promise of letter from his former church, was the first member to be received in the newly chartered church.

Today -
Mayhill Baptist Church, Mayhill, New Mexico, is a vibrant, multi-gen, multi-cultural congregation nestled in the Sacramento Mountains in Southern New Mexico. We have 175 members with an average attendance just under 100. We value God's Word, building biblical worship gatherings around praise, prayer, and preaching. God has blessed a strong effort towards disciple-making that has grown our church family.

Through the years, members of  Mayhill Baptist Church have prayed over and completed several building projects including a remodeled sanctuary almost 3 times the size of the original sanctuary, a fellowship hall and kitchen, a nursery and  k-2 classroom and outside play area, youth classrooms, adult classes and  pastor’s study. Our Church maintains and offers a 3 bedroom, 2 bath, 2 car garage parsonage.

However, some things never change; we are still called to tell others about the life saving grace of Jesus Christ and disciple them in the knowledge of our faith.

Sunday school attendance is valued by our church members and it is important to note that Sunday school attendance and Worship attendance are almost equal most Sundays. Sunday School classes include:  Children’s classes for each grade, three adult classes, one discipleship class, and a women’s class.

Growth:

Membership and salvation have continued on a steady upward trend for the past three years (including young families with children).

We support the ministries of the church with selfless love and service.
